Listening exercises

Listening is very important to “hear” the sound of a word. You also need to a transcript of what you hear to check the spelling of the word and get a better understanding of the full text.

The majority of these listenings come from the London BBC news, the BBC has been promoting language learning on its World Service since 1932, and dedicated programmes since 1943. I recommend that you go to their website and see what material they have (https://www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english).

Here you will find short videos, MP3 files, transcripts with blanks and full transcripts for you to practice your listening comprehension.

Before you begin, just a couple of things to know: Scroll up and the menu disappears; scroll down and it appears Click on any video that has no controls to stop/start it Right click and “save link as” to download
